The aim of this work was the determination and the analysis of benzoic acid and sorbic acid content in carbonated and non-carbonated beverages, in addition to cake, biscuit, yoghurt, sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise, croissant and jam products. The analyses of these preservatives in 60 different food products were performed. In this purpose, the conditions of analyzed compounds extraction from the food samples were optimized and method of analysis by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography method (RP-HPLC) was developed. The study obtained clear findings that the selected commodities in the traditional Egyptian market have the limited ranges of preservatives as stated by the EU regulations excluding the mayonnaise sample which exceeded the permitted values....
A simple, precise, accurate and economical UV visible spectrophotometric method has been developed for estimation of perindopril erbumine and indapamide drug by AUC method. Quantitative determination of the drug was performed at wavelength range 208-214 nm and 239-244 nm for perindopril erbumine and indapamide respectively. The linearity was established over the concentration range of 10-50 µg/ml for perindopril erbumine and 1-5 µg/ml for indapamide with correlation coefficient value of 0.999 for both the drugs. Precision studies showed that % relative standard deviation was within range of acceptable limits. The recovery study was found to be within range of 99-101%. The proposed method has been validated as per ICH guidelines....
For estimation of ramipril in pharmaceutical dosage form, a simple, accurate and precise area under curve spectrophotometric method was developed. The area under two points on the mixture spectra is directly proportional to the concentration of the component of interest is the AUC curve. The area selected for estimation of ramipril was between 202.20 to 237.40 nm. The method represented regression coefficient (r2 = 0.999) at concentration rang 5-25 μg/ml. Estimation of the drugs was found up to 100 % representing the accuracy of the method. The recovery of the ramipril was found up to 100 %. Validation of the proposed method was carried out for its accuracy, precision and specificity according to ICH Q2 (R1) guidelines. The developed methods can be successfully applied in routine work for the estimation of ramipril in its pharmaceutical dosage form....
Mass spectrometry is a powerful technique for identification of unknowns and study of molecular structure of various compounds. Mass spectrometry is an analytical technique for “weighing” molecules. Mass spectrometry is based upon the principle of the motion of a charged particle that is called an ion, in an electric or magnetic field. The mass to charge ratio of the ion affects particles motion. MS is now in very common use in analytical laboratories that study physical, chemical, or biological properties of a great variety of compounds. Mass spectrometry has both qualitative and quantitative uses. Due to ionization sources such as electrospray ionization and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ ionization (MALDI), mass spectrometry has become an irreplaceable tool in the analytical sciences. This article provides an overview of mass spectrometry, focusing on ionization sources and their significance in the development of mass spectrometry in molecular analysis....
